The eastern Gawler Craton hosts the giant Olympic Dam iron oxide - associated copper-gold (IOCG) deposit, as well as several other world class IOCG deposits (i.e. Prominent Hill and Carrapateena). The region is covered by a thick sequence of Mesoproterozoic to Cenozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks, making the region difficult and costly to explore using conventional methods. The subject map product shows the distribution of cover in 3D and is based on SEEBASEâ„¢ data, drilling data and previous depth to basement maps (Meixner, 2010; https://www.ga.gov.au/products/servlet/controller?event=GEOCAT_DETAILS&catno=70594).
